The popularity of robot vacuums has started to grow increasingly over the past few years. And we can totally see why they’re the millennial and modern technology answer to your classic canister vacuum. In this article, we’ll be looking at the Roomba 805 in particular, to you see whether or not this vacuum will help you keep the cobwebs at bay and the dust bunnies out from under the bed.

 Key Features

Small but Mighty: Roomba’s are tiny at only 18 by 16 inches wide and 5 inches high but don’t let their size fool you into thinking they won’t be able to pick dirt around your house. The size of this vacuum model also means it’s great for squeezing under any items of furniture without you having to move it beforehand. And you don’t have to worry about this model getting knocked over or breaking itself from bumping into objects, as it weighs a sturdy 12.8lbs.

Auto Programming: You’ll be able to program this model to clean up after you up to 7 times a week. That means the Roomba can clean up after you once a day! This is just one of the features that make the Roomba great for busy people. You can simply set up your Roomba to clean even when you’re not in the house.

Multi-Surface: You’ll also find your Roomba won’t be beaten by any change or surface thanks to it’s engineered performance and 3-stage cleaning system which uses a variety of bristles to accommodate different types of surfaces. The Roomba will automatically detect what bristle height is required for the surface type. Not only do these different types of bristles allow the Roomba to pick up dirt from different types of surfaces but they’ll also not damage your flooring as it cleans.

Dirt Detector: This Roomba model also comes with ‘Dirt Detect Technology’ which enables it to use its sensors to detect areas with more dirt than others. This means if you Roomba is cleaning a room and comes across a high traffic area like a doorway it will focus on clearing this surface before moving on.

Pros

Self-Cleaning: This probably has to the best thing you’ll ever hear when looking at buying a cleaning product. Yes, you heard us right, this is a vacuum that will do your vacuuming for you!

Lithium-ion Battery: These batteries help provide a quality life cycle to your vacuum, with up to 3x more power than other vacuums on the market.

AeroForce: Unlike some other robot vacuum models you don’t have to worry about this Roomba dragging around dust and dirt and spewing it back into the air. The reason for this is the Roomba’s AeroForce filter which captures 99% of the allergens, in the air, up to 10 microns!

Cons

Roombas Can’t Climb Stairs: Unfortunately, Roomba’s can’t climb up your stairs to reach the other rooms within your house. This means you will have to put some effort into you cleaning and lift your Roomba up the stairs.

They Won’t Remove Embedded Dirt:  Although the Roomba’s work great on multiple surfaces. If you have any super long carpeted floors or gather a lot of embedded dirt, you should look for a more powerful model of vacuum.

Who Is It Suitable For?

We believe that Roomba’s are really good for a couple or those living in a small household with a busy lifestyle. Roomba’s work perfectly for those that are busy as they can easily get up and go to work, or enjoy their weekend off and when they return home the Roomba will have done all the vacuuming for them. If you’re not in a small household don’t think you can’t use a Roomba, these little self-cleaning vacuums also work great for large families or household who want to keep on top of their dirt.

Why We Like It

We just loved how intelligent Roomba’s are thanks to the vacuum’s adapt navigation which allows it to use sensors to navigate its way around objects. This means whenever your Roomba comes into contact with stairs or ledges it will know to avoid them and go around.
